Gothenburg Exchange Examines Progression Pathways

The second exchange of the Homeless World Cup Erasmus+ Project took place in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden, from October 23 – 26. The exchange brought together delegates from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England, Hungary, and Portugal, where they had the opportunity to explore the theme of “Progression Pathways” and share good practice and common challenges. The attending delegates discussed the different ways in which they help their participants move beyond the football programmes and into a better life. Some examples included access to education, partnerships with sponsors to deliver apprenticeships and internships, and volunteering opportunities.

After the first session, the delegates were delighted to attend the football match between IFK Göteborg and AIK Fotball, a classic match between the rival cities of Gothenburg and Stockholm.

During the second day of the exchange, staff from Gatans Lag, Homeless World Cup National Partner in Sweden, invited their guests to one of their football training sessions, where they had an opportunity to meet some of their participants and even join the football practice.

This was the second of nine exchanges. The third exchange will take place in the city of Utrecht, in the Netherlands, where participants will focus on the topic of Player Empowerment.
