World United 5k is back and we need your support

Represent, Raise and Run for the Homeless World Cup Foundation and make a difference this May by running 5k anywhere in the world and raising vital funds.

The Homeless World Cup Foundation has launched the second edition of their global fundraising campaign, World United 5k, asking supporters across the world to walk or run 5k during the month of May and raise crucial funds to support the charity in their mission to end homelessness.

Participants are being asked to Represent, Raise and Run for the Homeless World Cup Foundation to support the annual tournament and the critical year-round work the charity does alongside its 70 Member Countries across the globe.

Make a difference this May and run 5k for the Homeless World Cup Foundation.

Runners can nominate the football team they wish to represent, raise funds for the Homeless World Cup Foundation (which will also contribute to their football club’s position in the World United 5k league) and walk or run 5k with pride anywhere in the world this May. You can also represent and run for the Homeless World Cup Foundation.

Mel Young, Homeless World Cup Foundation co-founder and President was the first to sign-up to take part in the challenge. He said:

“We’re delighted to announce the launch of this year’s World United 5k run. Like last year, I will be running for the Homeless World Cup Foundation, and you can join me as we try to outperform some of the world’s biggest clubs and top the World United 5k league in May.

In 2024, thousands of people signed up to the World United 5k for the Homeless World Cup Foundation, representing the Foundation or their favourite football club as part of the challenge.  This year we want to replicate the excitement of last year’s campaign as football clubs and their supporters battle for top spot but also urge those taking part to raise crucial funds for the charity at the same time by taking on the 5k in May.

People are always kindly asking us what they can do to help the Homeless World Cup Foundation. Now everyone can help the Homeless World Cup by joining the World United 5k and raising money along the way. Put on your favourite team’s jersey and represent your club or the Homeless World Cup Foundation and compete against other supporters from across the globe to show your support to ending homelessness.”

The World United 5k unites runners worldwide through their shared love of football and highlights the impact the world’s most loved sport can have on those who need it most.

The inaugural World United 5k in 2024 asked supporters to select the football club they supported in the hope that their team could pip their rivals in the World United 5k league – showing that their club and fans are the number one supporter base in the world when it comes to generosity and supporting good causes. This year is no different with participants being asked to represent their club or the Homeless World Cup Foundation when taking on the challenge – this year money raised by each supporter will contribute to their team’s total and ultimately their final finishing position in the league, the more money each club’s supporters raise the higher up the World United 5k league they will finish.

Last year, it came down to the final day to see which team would take top spot in the World United 5k league. Despite climbing to the summit as we entered the last day of the campaign in 2024, Real Madrid and their fans couldn’t cement their place as the first World United 5k Champions despite having led for most of the challenge, instead top spot and bragging rights was pinched from their grasp by Brazilian side Corinthians and their enthusiastic supporters.

Manchester United supporters finished in third spot followed by another Brazilian outfit Flamengo in fourth and a late-surging Rangers who with the support of their fans finished fifth.

Will it be your club in top spot when the campaign comes to a close on the 31st May?

You can sign up by heading the World United 5k fundraising portal and your 5k can take place at anywhere in the world, inside or outside, during the month of May.
