Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup brand launched with six months to go until the 20th edition of the tournament

  • Norway’s capital city will be hosting the Homeless World Cup for the second time.

  • It will be the first time the tournament has been held in Europe since Cardiff in 2019.

  • Over 500 players will compete across 8-days in the sporting festival.

The brand and logo for the Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup has been revealed to mark today’s six months to go milestone. The 20th edition of the Homeless World Cup will return to Oslo this year, the second time Norway and Oslo has hosted the tournament.

The tournament will be held at the iconic Rådhusplassen (City Hall Square) in August (23rd – 30th September) and will be organised alongside our Homeless World Cup Member Country in Norway, which is represented by The Salvation Army.

The city of Oslo hosted the Homeless World Cup in 2017, and it will be first time the tournament has been held in Europe since the Cardiff 2019 Homeless World Cup, after successful Homeless World Cups in the US and Asia (Sacramento 2023 and Seoul 2024).

There will be countries from across the globe taking part in the street soccer tournament in Oslo this summer and over 500 players will compete across 8-days in the world class sporting spectacle.

The Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup logo is designed by The Salvation Army designer Karianne Elmholt Tønnessen.

The Salvation Army (TSA), the Homeless World Cup Member Country partner in Norway, has a strong and well-known brand in Norway, this year’s profile event logo includes both TSA logo and the Homeless World Cup logo, as well as the city name and year.

The core inspiration for the event logo comes from the football field and its shapes and its characteristic geometric shapes. The profile's color palette consists of the TSA primary and secondary colors: red and blue, placed on a white background. This also evokes associations with The Norwegian flag's colors red, white, and blue.

Geometric shapes extend from the typography and create a repetitive pattern that can be used on surfaces that allow it. The pattern evokes associations with the shapes from the football field, but it should also resemble building blocks/houses to incorporate this aspect of the theme homelessness.

Mel Young, Homeless World Cup Foundation President and co-founder, said:

“We can’t wait to be back in Oslo in August for the 20th edition of the Homeless World Cup. This famous tournament has been played in some special cities all over the world, bringing awareness and understanding to the global issue of homelessness.

“It’s fantastic to see the tournament’s logo and brand identity revealed as we build up to the Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup, the branding brings a fresh look and an eye-catching feel for the event, as we begin the countdown to the Opening Ceremony and first day of action on Saturday 23rd August.

“With six months to go until the world will focus on the fantastic football on display at the outstanding Rådhusplassen venue, players from all over the world will be representing their country, celebrating their achievements at a football tournament that changes lives and challenges perceptions on homelessness.”

Knut Haugsvær, The Salvation Army and Project Leader for the Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup Local Organising Committee, said:

“The Oslo 2025 Local Organising Committee and The Salvation Army is looking forward to once again hosting the Homeless World Cup in Oslo. We promise a different and international sports festival and celebration in Oslo where the players are our heroes, and they are lifted up and cheered on by volunteers, supporters and partners here in Norway and across the world.

“We are working closely with the staff of the Homeless World Cup Foundation and our local partners to get everything in place for August. The players are the most important people for us. We will do everything to ensure that they are taken care of - from the moment they land until they leave Norway.

“This tournament is both an amazing sporting event - and at the same time an opportunity to shine a spotlight on major social challenges. We will use this opportunity to bring together both those who have experienced homelessness and those who are working to find and implement solutions – and decision-makers. We are inviting the world to this important event - in the hope of creating a better future – for the individual players as well as society as a whole.

“Preparations for the Homeless World Cup Member Countries and their journey to Oslo are now starting all over the world. For the players, it is more than just a journey from one city to another – because everyone has their own life journey first and foremost. Together we will meet in Oslo – to play football – and to find lasting good and meaningful solutions to end homelessness.”

The Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup will take place on Saturday 23rd August – Saturday 30th August, 2025. The Norwegian capital, will host city of the 20th Edition of the Homeless World Cup.
