The Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup will host 450 players in September who have experienced homelessness, they will represent their country on the global stage and compete to be crowned Homeless World Cup Champions across 8-days of football.

Alongside the announcement of teams coming to Seoul, the first time the Homeless World Cup has been held in Asia, the Homeless World Cup Foundation also announced the official rankings for the Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup.

In August, this year, FIFA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to support the Homeless World Cup Foundation. As part of the MoU, FIFA and the Homeless World Cup Foundation have agreed to jointly broadcast all games from the event on FIFA+, FIFA's streaming platform, while FIFA have also supplied material and equipment, including medals, kit, footballs and trophies for this year’s tournament.

The Cities Ending Homelessness conference will also take place at the University on Wednesday 25th September. Cities Ending Homelessness is an initiative with an ambitious aim - to bring together policy makers, social innovators, those with lived experience and academics from across sectors to discuss how to end homelessness.

The Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup is the first tournament since this year’s release (March 29th) of Netflix’s The Beautiful Game, which introduced the Homeless World Cup and the tournament’s global impact to a worldwide audience.

Mel Young, Homeless World Cup President and Co-Founder, said: “Since 2003 we have proved that the power of football can change lives and through our annual tournament and our partnerships across the world, we are committed to tackling and ending homelessness.

“Everyone at the Homeless World Cup Foundation, the Seoul 2024 Local Organising Committee, our Member Countries and our loyal supporters across the world are now eagerly counting down the days until the start of the Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup.

“56 teams and 450 players will come together at Hanyang University to celebrate the positive change football has made in their lives but to also play some wonderful and competitive football, creating lifelong memories and friendships along the way. We can’t wait for the tournament to start!”
