More than 120,000 fans flocked to the Champions League Festival in Yenikapı Park, Istanbul to soak up the atmosphere ahead of Manchester City’s famous victory over Inter Milan on Saturday 10th June. Part of those visitors included Homeless World Cup Member Country, Bulgaria, who had a special role to play at the event held by Homeless World Cup Partner, UEFA.

Sports Management Bulgaria who run the Team of Hope project were invited to bring players from the country’s programme to take part in an exhibition game just hours before Saturday’s final took place.

The players were involved in a 50-minute exhibition match, showcasing the skills and speed required in Street Football.

Viktor Kirkov, CEO of Sports Management Bulgaria Ltd. said:

“Team of Hope's participation in the Champions League Fan Festival in Istanbul was an incredible opportunity for disadvantaged young people from Bulgaria to be part of one of the most significant football tournaments at club level in the world.

“It offered them an experience that will give them so many positive emotions that they need and unforgettable memories for a lifetime. All the players from Team of Hope enjoyed mingling with the fans of both the Champions League finalists and soaked up the atmosphere of this spectacular event.”

10 players were involved in Istanbul and were invited to attend by UEFA as part of their Football and Social Responsibility partnership with the Homeless World Cup.
