The Stadium: March

Welcome to our International Women’s Day edition of the Stadium!

In this issue of the Homeless World Cup newsletter, we celebrate female leaders who are showing that there is always a place for women on the pitch.

We start with Nora, a player from Bulgaria who found a family for her and her sister through football. Then we go to India to meet our partner Slum Soccer and young leader Sejal. Since working in their communities rates of child marriage have declined, girls who are deaf have been able to learn about periods for the first time and thousands of girls have become community champions. And it all starts on the football pitch – they even have a Gender Equality Cup.

You will also meet Louise, a former Street Soccer Scotland player who shares her remarkable story about overcoming a ten-year heroin addiction and going from mentee to mentor.

We also hear from best-selling author Val McDermid about what ‘home’ means to her and how we all can work together to end homelessness.
