Sports Business Journal to Support Homeless World Cup Foundation

September 21 2020

The Sports Business Journal has partnered with the Homeless World Cup Foundation for a virtual giving campaign for their annual Sports Business Awards.

Established in 2008 by the SBJ, the Sports Business Awards gave the HWCF a Celebration of Service Award in 2017 for our efforts in changing people’s lives through football.

This year the SBJ wants to do more than just recognise our efforts, they want to help us raise money.

In addition to the HWCF, the SBJ has partnered with three other winners of the Celebration of Service Award. They hope to support these organisations by dropping a registration fee for the virtual event and asking attendees to donate instead.

You can register for the event here, and if you would like to support us with a donation please visit our JustGiving page here.

The other organisations involved in the virtual giving campaign are:

PeacePlayers

PeacePlayers offers sport programming, peace education, and leadership development to those living in communities in conflict that focus on creating lasting, meaningful change.

The charity fosters connections in divided communities, builds skills in cooperation, inter-personal relationship-building and conflict resolution. Additonally, they also empower youth to be leaders in their communities and advocates for peace around the world and nurtures a sense of global belonging… Through sport.

PowerPlay

PowerPlay creates opportunities for girls and gender non-conforming (GNC) youth ages 8-18 by partnering with schools and community-based organizations to conduct after-school and summer programs that emphasize physical fitness and education. Their free, holistic programs start a dialogue, offer the chance for critical and analytical thinking and opens the door to personal, academic and career growth for girls at all stages of their development. PowerPlay offers the following programs:

Team IMPACT

Team IMPACT is the only U.S. non-profit that tackles the emotional trauma and social isolation experienced by children facing serious and chronic illness by connecting them with a college athletic team. Our two-year therapeutic program complements a child’s medical treatments, allowing the child to develop relationships and skills that help them complete the full circle of healing.

The virtual 2020 Sports Business Awards will take place on September 30, 7pm ET (12am BST).
