Player Data join the Homeless World Cup family
Technical sports company PlayerData join Homeless World Cup squad ahead of Sacramento
PlayerData will support the Homeless World Cup during the 18th edition of the annual tournament.
Their elite level GPS units will enable players to digitally track their performance.
They have been a partner at previous Homeless World Cup tournaments in Mexico City, Cardiff and at our regional tournament in Fuenlabrada.
Football specialist company, PlayerData, has teamed up with the Homeless World Cup Foundation to continue their support at this year’s Homeless World Cup, which is being held in the USA for the first time in the much-loved tournament’s 20-year history.
The 2023 Homeless World Cup will be taking place from Saturday 8th July – Saturday 15th July at California State University, Sacramento and will see 500 players from across the globe reunited as the tournament returns after a four-year hiatus, due to the pandemic.
Data analytics and wearable tech specialists PlayerData will once again be joining the Homeless World Cup as an official supporter, having previously supported at the Mexico (2018) and Cardiff (2019) Homeless World Cup tournaments.
PlayerData will be supplying vests featuring the company’s elite level EDGE GPS trackers, which update to the PlayerData app in under three minutes, providing an insight into workload, physical performance and tactical impact from those players taking part.
Mel Young, President and Co-Founder of the Homeless World Cup Foundation, said:
“PlayerData have supported us at our two previous Homeless World Cups (Mexico 2018 and Cardiff 2019), so we are delighted to be working with them again in Sacramento. The data collected by the PlayerData GPS trackers over the 8 days of competition will support managers and players alike in multiple areas including workload and performance, match and individual analysis and development of ideas and formations. PlayerData GPS technology provides invaluable insight and will continue to be a welcome addition to our Member Countries and tournament offering.”
Beth Gray, CEO of PlayerData, said:
“We absolutely could not pass up on the opportunity to support the Homeless World Cup again as they make their return in Sacramento. Having attended the previous two tournaments, I can't stress how impactful and eye-opening an event it is, as well as being incredibly inspiring, watching such talented athletes! If we can add just a little extra by giving the athletes access to their performance data and professionalise their game that little bit more, we will. And, we will continue to do so as this marks a continued partnership between PlayerData and the Homeless World Cup.”
The Homeless World Cup is a unique and pioneering tournament that uses football to inspire and demonstrate the power of sport in changing people’s lives.
