Four Nations Challenge Cup - Day one

September 18 2022

The Four Nations Challenge Cup kicked off on Saturday in Edinburgh with the sun shining and some tight clashes between the Four Nations.

In the Men’s competition, England finished the day top with three wins, beating Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In the Women’s competition, Northern Ireland edged it to the top after beating England and Scotland, despite losing to the Welsh Dragons in penalties.

In the women’s semi-finals Northern Ireland will take on Scotland while England will face Wales. This will give Scotland a chance to get a few goals past Northern Ireland after a heavy defeat in the first day, while England will hope to beat Wales to the final after their 5-3 defeat on the first day.

In the men’s semi-finals, England will challenge Scotland. While Northern Ireland will take on Wales for a chance of getting their hands on the inaugural Four Nations Challenge Cup.

England beat Scotland on Day 1 10-4, however this is no guarantee of a place in the final. Northern Ireland, had a clean sheet against Wales on the first day with a very strong performance from their goalkeeper. They will fancy their chances against the Warriors but as with all of the games, nothing is guaranteed.

In the exhibition game on Day 1, the Lothian Bus drivers beat the team from Turn the Tables 11-7.
