Homeless World Cup Foundation appoints new team

The Homeless World Cup Foundation has today announced the appointment of six people, in newly created posts, including a CEO, International Development Director and two Fundraising Managers. The expansion is made possible with core start up funding from The Vodafone Foundation.

The Homeless World Cup Foundation was set up to develop grassroots football projects in over 75 nations triggered by the world-class international football tournament, the Homeless World Cup. Its ambition is to reach one million people who are homeless with the benefits of football.

Mel Young, Co-Founder and President, Homeless World Cup, said: “The Homeless World Cup has inspired grass roots football projects all over the world. The Foundation will now support and grow these projects to develop sustainable enterprises, create jobs, and affect real, lasting change.

“What the world needs now, in the current climate, is the emergence of new leaders and new entrepreneurs with a completely new set of values. These people are scattered throughout our partner organizations. We now want to fulfill this potential and build a powerful grass roots movement using football to change the world.”

Andrew Dunnett, Director, The Vodafone Foundation, said: “We are delighted to see the Homeless World Cup Foundation use our support to significantly grow the organisation, increasing the depth and breadth of its international football programme The Vodafone Foundation is committed to funding projects that achieve high-level impact - with proven success, the Homeless World Cup Foundation is already a force for change with phenomenal potential.”

New appointments include:

Frederic Guillemont, CEO

In January 2009 Frederic took up the newly created post of CEO, Homeless World Cup Foundation, the charity responsible for developing the grass roots football projects triggered by the Homeless World Cup. He joins from the Oceania Football Confederation where for 4 years he held the position of Deputy General Secretary. Here he established key regional partnerships with the United Nations network, European Union and national governments in Oceania to develop grass root programmes using football as education tool for youth communities. He is currently a FIFA instructor in Administration and Management and was a member of FIFA Fair Play and social responsibility committee. He studied Law and Finance at the University of Toulouse and lived for 14 years in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. He speaks French and English.

Robin Tatler, Fundraising Manager

Robin has over 20 years experience as a senior fundraiser for a variety of charitable projects. He was involved in setting up ChildLine in Scotland, helped to raise over £11m toward a new wing at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, and ran the NSPCC’s fundraising team in the Eastern Region. Responsible for securing sponsorship for Our Dynamic Earth project in Edinburgh, he also researched and edited the first Scottish Trusts Guide. His most recent role was to secure funding from trusts, companies, individuals and groups for the ground-breaking ProjectScotland scheme which provides full-time volunteering opportunities for 16 to 25 year olds.

Lynn Jarvis, Fundraising Manager        

Lynn joined the Homeless World Cup Foundation in February 2009. She has over 13 years experience of fundraising in the voluntary sector and is a skilled, professionally knowledgeable and proactive fundraiser.  Lynn has had an interesting and varied career to date - from travelling the world organising mass participation fundraising events for a disability charity (raising just under £500,000 in 3 years) to setting up fundraising and administration systems for charities all over Europe.  Most recently Lynn spent the last 3 years fundraising and organising high profile events for Poppyscotland (an ex service charity). In her spare time Lynn is a youth leader and teaches the

Tom Pitchon, International Development Director

Tom Pitchon spent 3 years with Coaching for Hope, an organisation using football as a tool for community education and empowerment. Here he managed programmes spanning several African nations and most recently was responsible for setting up a new regional headquarters in Cape Town, and launching a new platform of work in Southern Africa. Tom holds a Masters degree in Violence, Conflict and Development from the School of Oriental & African Studies in London and speaks fluent Spanish.
