In 2005, such innovative ideas inspired a group of social workers, soccer coach and social entrepreneurs from Society of Community Organization & Wofoo Social Enterprises of Hong Kong. With their joint effort, HK Contingent was then firstly appeared in the Edinburgh, United Kingdom till now. For Milan 2009 Team Hong Kong got increasing support from the Social Service Sectors, First Division Soccer Teams, Government Officials and the business community. Their vision is “everyone is entitled to equal rights”. Flag Presentation and Updated news of HK, China Contingent

Team members of Hong Kong, China Contingent had been confirmed after the serious individual interview with several candidates in late June. To raise the public concern on the team and the needs of the homeless people and other deprived group, the Flag Presentation, together with the friendly match versus 'Artist and Pop Star Soccer Team' was held on 15 July.

Hong Kongs' Homeless World Cup Fundraising Tournament

To raise the money for the Hong Kong Homeless World Cup team to participate in the Homeless World Cup and to promote the message of social inclusion and poverty elimination, The Society for Community Organization, and Wofoo Social Enterprise co-organized an event, 'Kick Off Poverty – Homeless World Cup Fundraising Tournament 2007' in Mapherson Playground, Mong Kok, on 26-27 May 2007.

Optimism for the Future

All eight players who so proudly represented Hong Kong China in Edinburgh 2005 and Cape Town 2006 significantly improved their lives – a goal this year’s side will be keen to repeat.
